The 4 Golden UPSC Photo Rules
If you are applying for the NDA or CDS exams, you must ensure your images adhere to these parameters:
- The Name and Date Strip: Your name and the date the photograph was taken must be clearly printed at the bottom of the photo[cite: 12].
- File Limits: Images must be sized between 40 KB and 100 KB in JPEG format[cite: 13, 15].
- Large Dimensions: UPSC requires a massive 300×400 pixel portrait photo, which is much larger than SSC or IBPS formats[cite: 13].
- The 3/4th Face Rule: Your face must occupy roughly 70% to 75% of the total photograph area[cite: 12].
Signature Rules
Your signature must be scanned on plain white paper using a black ink pen[cite: 12]. The required size is 400×150 pixels, compressed to between 10 KB and 40 KB[cite: 13].
