You’ve taken a perfectly clear photo of your 10th marksheet using your iPhone. You crop it, go to the SSC or IBPS portal, click upload, and immediately get an error: "Invalid File Format. Only JPG/JPEG allowed."
Why does this happen, and how can you fix it quickly without losing photo quality?
By default, modern iPhones (iOS 11 and newer) do not save photos as JPGs. To save storage space, Apple introduced a format called HEIC (High-Efficiency Image Container). While HEIC is great for your phone's memory, old government exam portals have no idea how to read it.
Simply renaming the file from `.heic` to `.jpg` won't work—the portal's security script will check the file's internal binary headers and still reject it.
You need to properly convert the image data into a JPEG format. We built this functionality directly into ExamReady to save you time.
Every tool on ExamReady now natively supports HEIC files.
Our tools will automatically detect that you uploaded an iPhone photo, instantly convert it to a universally accepted JPEG in the background, and allow you to edit, compress, and download it.
If you are applying for multiple exams and want to permanently switch your iPhone back to standard JPEGs, follow these steps:
From now on, your camera will shoot in standard JPEG!
